The Bartlesville Community Foundation is excited to announce the creation of the Lennie Baker Scholarship. The new scholarship will be offered in the 2018 scholarship cycle. This scholarship was created to honor the legacy of Lennie Baker, who many described as the “Godfather of the Bartlesville music scene”. Lennie recorded his first record in 1964, performed with a traveling band for 16 years, and worked as a solo act beginning in 1984. Baker began performing professionally at the age of 18 and credited the development of his skills to his participation in local church and school choirs.
This $500 scholarship encourages applications from high school seniors with backgrounds in both music and leadership planning to attend college in the fall. Applicants for the Lennie Baker Scholarship must provide a letter of recommendation from either their high school music teacher or private music instructor and complete all additional application requirements. For more information about Lennie Baker and to download the scholarship application visit the Bartlesville Community Foundation website at www.bartlesvillecf.org . Any questions regarding scholarship hosted by the BCF can be directed to Laura Jensen at 918.337.2287. Complete applications for the Lennie Baker Scholarship must be submitted to the Bartlesville Community Foundation office no later than April 1, 2018 at 5pm.
