The Bartlesville Community Foundation is humbled to help recognize the legacy of Carol Lewallen through a new scholarship opportunity. This fund was established by Carol’s daughters Lisa Lewallen and Stacy Lewallen as a way for friends and family to remember and continue Carol’s creative work.
Carol loved to travel, play and listen to music, watch old movies, dance, laugh, and paint. She was a self-taught musician who played the guitar and piano. At the age of 60, Carol started violin lessons and just two years later performed as 2nd string violin with the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of a small string ensemble and performed regularly at her church.
Carol shared her love for music and art with everyone in her life but especially her children and grandchildren. This scholarship seeks to support women like Carol who are interested in the arts and foraging their own unique path.
“Listening to stories of Carol’s drive from her daughters has been so inspiring. We look forward to sharing this award with students and continuing Carol’s legacy” – Laura Jensen, BCF executive director.
This scholarship will open for its first application period on January 1, 2023. Students interested in learning more and applying should visit the Bartlesville Community Foundation’s website and click the “Scholarships” tab.
