This scholarship is for graduating seniors who attend a public school in Washington County and have plans to attend college, university or tech school. The scholarship is intended for students whose family does not have the financial resources to send the student to college or a technical school. Although financial need is the emphasis, the student’s grade point average and extracurricular interest and/or work history will also be considered during the evaluation process. 

Award Details: 

Up to $2,000 payable as 50 percent per semester as long as a 2.5 or higher college or technical school GPA is maintained. Students may reapply for the scholarship in the general applicant pool each year.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Graduating senior of a public school in Washington County, Oklahoma
  • Unweighted high school GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Planning to attend college, university, or tech school
  • Financial need

Required Addendums:

  • Personal essay of 500 words or less that describes your immediate family’s financial resources and your plans for financing your higher education 
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from a high school counselor or a school faculty member, and one from any unrelated community member, instructor, mentor, pastor, etc… of the student’s choice. A portion of each letter should address the financial need of the student.
  • Copy of submitted FAFSA
  • Official high school transcript
