Bud & Brad Horsman Memorial Scholarship
Bud & Brad Horsman Memorial Scholarship
Bud Horsman was a farmer, rancher, gardener, building contractor, and for many years, a Caney Valley school board member. He graduated from Ramona High School. He farmed and raised cattle on the land where he grew up as a boy, in Ramona. After serving in the military during World War II, he attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in agricultural economics. The Horsman family farm thrived as Bud used his agriculture education to ensure successful crops and healthy animals. Bud lived a long and fruitful life and died at the age of 85.
Brad Horsman was much like his father and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of the Vo-Ag class at Caney Valley High School in Ramona and, as a member of the Future Farmers of America, was selected to receive the State Farmer’s Degree when he was a senior. He showed cattle, horses, and pigs while in high school. He also was a member of the 4-H Washington County Saddle Club. Brad trained several champion hunting dogs. Unfortunately, in 1978 at the age of 23, Brad’s life was cut short when he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle and was involved in a single-car accident.
