Janis Blanton Scholarship

This scholarship is for graduating seniors who attend a public school in Nowata, Osage, or Washington Counties and have plans to attend college, university or tech school. The scholarship is intended for students whose family does not have the financial resources to send the student to college or a technical school. Although financial need is the emphasis, the student’s grade point average and extracurricular interest and/or work history will also be considered during the evaluation process. 

Award Details: 

Up to $2,000 payable as 50 percent per semester as long as a 2.5 or higher college or technical school GPA is maintained. Students may reapply for the scholarship in the general applicant pool each year.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Graduating senior of a public school in Nowata, Osage, or Washington Counties in Oklahoma
  • Unweighted high school GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Planning to attend college, university, or tech school
  • Financial need
  • Well-written essay that describes your immediate family’s financial resources and your plans for financing your higher education

Required Addendums:

  • Two letters of recommendation: one from a high school counselor or a school faculty member, and one from any unrelated community member, instructor, mentor, pastor, etc. of the student’s choice. A portion of each letter should address the financial need of the student.
  • First page(s) of FAFSA Submission Summary, up to and including the Student Aid Index number. Refer to FAQs for more information.
  • Official high school transcript

Transcripts should NOT be prepared or printed by the applicant.
