Molly & Sandy “Big Futures” Scholarship

Photos of Molly Reynolds
The Molly & Sandy "Big Futures" Scholarship was established by Ron & Sandy Maxwell to honor and memorialize the life of Molly Reynolds while also supporting the Bartlesville area Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Molly was a "Little Sister" to Sandy for four years. The Maxwells are forever grateful for the time they shared with Molly.
Molly cherished life's simple pleasures - baking Christmas cookies, writing stories, playing the piano, and feeding the ducks at Jo Allyn Lowe Park. The poem below was written by Molly and illustrates her kind, youthful spirit, and demonstrates her creative talents. She was always able to see the positive in things.
I BELIEVE
by Molly Reynolds
I believe that the best works of art are drawn on spiral notebooks during class.
I believe that everybody is a writer, and a leader, and an artist.
And everyone has a child inside of them that plays, and sings, and laughs.
I believe that there should always be recess.
And a time devoted to napping.
And a class devoted to doodling.
I believe all rooms should be painted blue or yellow,
And every window should always be opened to let in the warm breeze and all the sunshine.
I believe that when it rains, and the grass & flowers are wet, everyone should be allowed to play in the cool drops that sparkle down from the big, blue sky.
And everyone should dance in the cool grass,
And be as free as a child.
And FEEL as free as a child.
That,
is what I believe.
The goal of the Molly & Sandy "Big Futures" Scholarship is to empower a "Little Brother" or "Little Sister" to confidently take their next steps into adulthood. By helping to remove financial barriers to higher education, the scholarship can make a "Little's" dream of attending college or trade school a reality.
