Glenn and Anne Dodwell Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Glenn W. Dodwell was born in New York City, New York, spent his younger years in Teaneck, New Jersey and then in Glen Rock, New Jersey where he graduated from high school. He received his PhD in Chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute at Worcester, Massachusetts. He then pursued a career in the chemical engineering profession. Dr. Dodwell holds multiple patents for his work in chemical research. He came to Bartlesville in 1998 and was employed as a research chemist with Phillips Petroleum Company until his retirement.

Anne M. Dodwell was born in Millinocket, Maine. She spent her younger years in Maine before attending Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts where she received a nursing diploma and then Maryville College in St. Louis, Missouri where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Anne then attended Columbia University in New York City where she received a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Anesthesia. She was employed at Columbia Hospital in New York City and then came to Bartlesville in 1998 and accepted employment at Jane Phillips Medical Center as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Glenn and Anne married in 1975 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Anne enjoyed exercising, Zumba, lounging by the pool and spending time with her godchildren. She passed away in 2013. Dr. Dodwell enjoyed spending time with close friends and his godchildren. Dr. Dodwell passed away in 2018.

Together, through this scholarship, Glenn and Anne Dodwell’s legacy will live on as they help others pursue careers in the areas of study they found so meaningful.

Award Details:

Up to $10,000 per year of study payable as 50 percent per semester to the college or university of the student’s choosing, as long as the GPA requirement (3.0 or higher) is achieved. Students may be eligible to reapply and have their applications reviewed by the scholarship committee every year until successful graduation with a degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or until certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Scholarships will be awarded to students pursing chemistry, chemical engineering undergraduate, graduate or PhD studies. Registered Nurses pursuing advanced education to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist may also be eligible to apply. Although we encourage anyone who is eligible to apply, priority will be given to students pursing a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist credential. 

Recipients will be selected based on adherence to prescribed criteria, strength of essays, financial need, and strong character as demonstrated through the letters of recommendation.

Eligibility Criteria: HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS

  • Graduating from any high school within the boundaries of the Bartlesville or Dewey school districts
  • Unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Planning to major in chemistry or chemical engineering
  • Well-written essay, answering, “What makes you excited about this field of study?”
  • Well-written essay, answering, “How do you see this field of study evolving, and how do you hope to impact this change?”
  • If awarded, to receive funding for the second semester, evidence that the student is on a path to achieve a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a Nurse Anesthesiology program will be required. This may be evidenced by:
    • Transcript with degree determination
    • Plan of study from college counselor
    • Other

  • Pursuing degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or Registered Nurse pursuing Certified Nurse Anesthetist degree

    • One from a high school counselor or teacher
    • One from another unrelated party (teacher, community member, coach, mentor, etc.)
  • First page(s) of FAFSA Submission Summary, up to and including the Student Aid Index number. Refer to FAQs for more information.
  • Official high school transcript

Required Addendums: POST-SECONDARY APPLICANTS

  • Two letters of recommendation:
    • One from an employer, professor/teacher, or academic advisor
    • One from another unrelated party (employer, teacher, community member, coach, mentor, etc.)
  • Evidence of pursuit of chemistry, chemical engineering or Certified Nurse Anesthetist degree path. This may be done with:
    • Transcript with degree determination disclosure
    • Plan of study from a college counselor
    • Other
  • Official college transcript (must show undergraduate degree completion if you are applying for a masters, PhD, or Certified Nurse Anesthetist scholarship)
